Sometimes Getting Old and Disconnected Sucks

I don't mean for myself this morning, but I mean for Chris Matthews. He was bemoaning the loss of the newspaper.

Now newspapers are in decline because most of them now either have taken a strong political persuasion or they are bland and largely rehash feeds from AP and other sources. The media is huge. I went to the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego and the most amazing thing about it was how it was dwarfed by the media. We are talking a gathering of one of two large dominant political parties here in America and it paled in comparison to the media presence. There were three members of the media there for each delegate.

Does no one honestly doubt that we could get down to say, a one to one ratio and still have every perspective and bit of investigative journalism necessary accomplished?

We do not lack for news or people to gather it. Bemoaning this fact won't change it.

However to continue on with Chris Matthews and his delusional state, he was complaining that the kids who are flocking to feeds and internet websites to get their news will somehow not have their attention ever diverted by something different from the what they desired to read.

Yes, you read that right. Matthews thinks the web is one big ball of focus and that no one ever wanders off or ends up reading something they might not have otherwise discovered.

Chris Matthews, you just earned a double-facepalm buddy. I don't know what magical internet you happen to visit but mine is begging for focus. The kids will be just fine.
